Maintaining the History of Caribou
The Caribou Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and displaying the history and genealogy of our town from its inception through 1959 in our Caribou Historical Center & Museum. This is the only place residents can find this information, aside from the local library. We believe it is valuable to make this information available to the public for study and appreciation. We currently house our collection in four buildings, one is a replica of an 1860 one-room schoolhouse. We use a computerized inventory program to document our extensive collection.
Accolades
Our association has been recognized by the State Congress on our 40th anniversary and regularly hear exclamations of praise from our visitors. As we’ve grown, we have received grants from organizations to help us maintain our high-quality displays.
